WE NEED YOU!!! We need Volunteers of all skill levels and time commitment levels. Please consider volunteering!!!
Are you interest in volunteering at HBE? Do you want to chaperone a field trip? Would you like to help out in a classroom? Then this is where you need to start! All volunteers MUST have a volunteer clearance prior to volunteering at school.
New for 2017-2018: UCPS implemented a new Volunteer Management System – all volunteers (new and old) must apply at the UCPS Volunteer Program (https://www.ucps.k12.nc.us/page/5863).
Hemby Bridge 2017-2018 Volunteer Opportunities:
Interested in checking out all the areas in need of volunteers? Check out ur Sign-up Genius. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0444a95-hemby3 At HBE, we utilize this tool for contacting people interested in a specific area or activity. Please note that by signing up it does not commit you to that area or activity, it just puts you on the list to be contacted by the chairperson. At that point, you can decide whether it is a good fit for you. Thank you in advance for volunteering!
VOLUNTEER – THREE FOR ME!
Three for Me is a promise; a promise to your child and to the school. You promise to volunteer 3 hours of your time during the school year by signing a Three for Me promise form. Whether it is helping in the classroom, reading to children, helping at a PTO event, proctoring during EOGs, lunch relief – the list is endless. An hour or a day, it all matters and we truly appreciate your time and talents.
The Mentoring Committee needs you to make it a huge success! We will pair adults with an individual child or group of children who benefit from a little help outside the classroom. The teacher will give you an “assignment” each week. It is a 30 minute time commitment, once a week. That’s all! We would love to have grandparents, aunts, uncles, retired individuals and anyone else in the community willing to give their time. If you are interested in mentoring, please contact Jennifer Schwarz.
We offer each teacher a duty free lunch on Tuesdays. The cafeteria is staffed with parent volunteers to allow our teachers a child-free lunch. Lunch relief is divided into 2 shifts: 10:40-11:30 am and 11:30 am-12:30 pm. If you are available 1 Tuesday or 4 Tuesdays, we’d love to have you. You must have your UCPS volunteer clearance to participate. Contact Jennifer Schwarz if you have any questions about the program.
