Hemby Bridge Elementary School PTO Meeting Minutes December 17, 2015

PTO Members Present: Jennifer Schwarz, Kim Rice, Jenny Ray, Melissa Carpenter, Amy Machold, Cathy Cassidy, Courtney Walker, Valerie Dybel, Heather Greenwood, Wendy Reed, Stephanie Burris, Briana Anderson, Ana Butler, Beth Green, Sonia Tubbs, Katy Smith, Barb Ballard, Amy Sullivan

Call to Order:

Jennifer Schwarz called the meeting to order at 2:13 pm

Officer Reports:

    President  – a few teachers have not spent upfront money. Needs to be done by tomorrow

    VP Fundraising  –still waiting on corporate donations

    VP Room Parents  –nothing to report

    Treasurer – reported the bank balance is $28665.89.Treasurer records are made available for everyone to see at every PTO meeting. They are in a large brown folder.

    Secretary  –nothing to report

Committee Reports:

    Beautification – nothing to report

    Book Fair – Feb. 11th is set up day. Preview day is Feb. 12th. Classes will visit Book Fair Feb. 16th-19th.

    Box Tops and Campbell’s Labels – Jenny Ray stated our check is coming soon.

    Care and Share – Please let Amy Sullivan know if you know of anyone needing a card or flowers.

Family Dance – nothing to report

    Restaurant Nights – Jan.7 is Chik-Fil-A night. Jan. 28 is Kate’s Skating night.

    Green – nothing to report

Grocery Store Rewards – we received $346.00 from Harris Teeter

Holiday Shop – just finished. Not sure of our total profit yet. Was very successful this year.  Volunteers had to go to Dollar Tree to purchase extra items to sell.

    Hospitality – nothing to report

    Lunch Relief – Starting in Jan. 2016, lunch relief will be on Tuesday. This will help give teachers some extra time due to not having Specials classes on Tuesdays.

Membership – nothing to report

Mentoring – students with mentoring needs have now been placed with volunteers but more volunteers are needed. Jennifer asked if anyone can help with mentoring, please let her know.

    Newsletter – send any info to Kristen Sloan and copy Heather Pownell for website

School Spirit – Spring dates have not been determined yet

Volunteers – nothing to report

Website – send any info for PTO website to Heather Pownell

    Yearbook – Front cover and back cover art work by 5th grade students is displayed on PTO bulletin board in entrance hallway. Voting is still in progress by all students to determine which art work will be chosen.

Old Business:

Candy Canes and Pencils for Cancer have finished. Decision will be made on where the donations will go.

Dec. 8th was 1st and 3rd grade music concert and General PTO meeting.

Volunteers needed to help in 5th and 4th grades any time in the mornings and especially on Tuesdays to give teachers a personal break and extra planning time.

New Business:

Amy Machold donated a brand new, custom made money drop-box for the 3-5 building.

Graciously made by her husband. Thank you Amy!

Mrs. Burris informed us that Joyce Plyler went home from the hospital today and is in treatment.
