Hemby Bridge Elementary School PTO Meeting Minutes October 15, 2015
PTO Members Present: Jennifer Schwarz, Heather Pownell, Kim Rice, Angelica Linn, Jenny Ray, Michelle Simpson, Rita Klasmier, Melissa Carpenter, Amy Machold, Cathy Cassidy, Paige McCay, Beth Matthews, Cortney Walker, Valerie Dybel, Heather Greenwood, Wendy Reed, Kelsey Fletcher, Stephanie Burris, Briana Anderson.
Call to Order:
Jennifer Schwarz called the meeting to order at 2:15 pm
President – a general PTO meeting will be held Nov. 3 at 6:30pm for parents to attend. Room 720. A flyer will be sent home.
The vote was passed for Tacha to receive an increase in pay for child care during PTO meetings.
The vote was passed for $200.00 up front money for new teachers.
VP Fundraising – Boosterthon decorating for classrooms is Oct. 20th from 3-7 pm. Theme is Big World Recess.
VP Room Parents – nothing to report
Treasurer – Jennifer Schwarz reported the bank balance is $13,809.87. Treasurer records are made available for everyone to see at every PTO meeting. They are in a large brown folder.
Secretary– nothing to report
Beautification – nothing to report
Book Fair – we made $2017.68 in cash from Fall Book Fair. Will receive $400.00 of Loyalty Perks after our February Book Fair in product from the Fall fair.
Box Tops/Campbells Labels – Jenny Ray asked to remind parents to send in box tops by Oct. 22. We will have a box top clip day on Oct. 23. Volunteers are needed for this.
Care and Share – Please let Amy Sullivan know if you know of anyone needing a card or flowers.
Family Dance – rescheduled for Nov. 13. Refunds were given for tickets purchased for original date of dance.
Restaurant Nights – we made $346.87 from Chick-Fil-A last month. Our next family nights are Dec. 3rd at Monkey Joe’s from 4-8 pm in Matthews and Dec. 8th at Chick-Fil-A in Indian Trail.
Green – nothing to report
Grocery Store Rewards – be sure to link your Harris Teeter VIP card to Hemby Bridge Elementary each year.
Holiday Shop – NEW DATES FOR HOLIDAY SHOP Dec. 10-15th
Hospitality – Nov. 24th is “ThanksPie Giving”. Angelica Linn explained what this tradition is all about. It was suggested that room parents could offer to come watch the class so teacher can come pick out a desert. Also, Angelica reported Teacher Treat Thursday is going well.
Lunch Relief – Going good.
Membership – Cathy Cassidy reported we raised $780.00 so far.
Mentoring – Ms. Phipps is organizing students in need and will get with Jennifer Schwarz to place them with a mentor.
Newsletter – send any info to Kristen Sloan and copy Heather Pownell for website
School Spirit – some apparel came in with misprints. That has been handled per Sonia Tubbs
Volunteers – a suggestion was made to narrow down dates needed for volunteers to encourage more people to sign up
Website – Send any info for PTO website to Heather Pownell
Yearbook – forms are being sent home in a few weeks to order yearbooks. Cost will be $13.00 and $15.00 for online.
Nothing to report
PTO asked for a PTO mailbox in the 3-5 building for teachers to receive information without having to walk to the main building during the day.
Publix Grocery Store announced they will have a key card soon that can be linked to our school to raise funds for the school
Jennifer Schwarz stated we have funds for specials teachers. Bring your needs to PTO and we will address your needs.
Upfront money for grade levels ($500.00) needs to be spent by winter break
Raz-Kids is going great in grades K-3rd
Scholastic classroom subscriptions were purchased for 1st and 2nd grade. We need other grades request within 2 weeks per Jennifer Schwarz and Mrs. Burris.
